Shannon Abney oversees all development, marketing, communications, fundraising and advocacy efforts at VOASCLA. Shannon’s passion has been in raising funds to support early childhood education through Louisiana’s School Readiness Tax Credit program. To date, she has raised over 3.9 million dollars for early care and education in our state.
Prior to entering the non-profit world, Shannon spent 10 years working for Accenture LLC, a leading global management consulting and technology firm, specializing in business process redesign and systems integration work in the oil and gas industry. She also took a break to be a stay-at-home mom, her proudest accomplishment.
She has also served on the JDRF Southern States Board of Directors for six years and is in her second term as their Advocacy Team Chair where she is responsible for all JDRF legislative and policy priorities for the state of Louisiana. Shannon has spent many years volunteering at University Laboratory School, served 5 years on the Elan Cotillion Board and is currently a member of Kappa Sigma Mother’s Club and Association of Fundraising Professionals.Shannon graduated from LSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. She has been married for 26 years to her husband, Chris, and is the proud mother of two boys, Carson and Blake. She enjoys running, spending time with her family and friends, and attending her boy’s football and baseball games.
