River Oaks offers transitional housing services through a 10-unit 2-bedroom apartment complex in Lafayette. We provide a stable and safe affordable housing option for up to 20 unaccompanied adults receiving mental health services. We provide onsite staff 24 hours a day to provide supportive counseling, medication monitoring, transportation to appointments, psychosocial skills training, and vocational/employment assistance. Three of the 10 apartment units are supported through a contact with Louisiana Clinical Services to support 6 indigent adults. Referrals must be received from the one of the clinics operated by the Acadiana Area Human Services District. If the individual has an income, referrals are accepted from all mental health providers for 7 of the 10-unit apartments. The goal of this program is to have the individual succeed in transitioning to permanent housing. The maximum length of stay is 2 years.
This program is not prepared to work with individuals who may be actively suicidal, homicidal, gravely disabled, intellectually disabled, has a history of violence, or those individuals who may be experiencing serious medical complications.
